Dori Monson has been getting a little paranoid lately and says he is being harassed and threatened because of his “libertarian views,” and that many liberals are trying to get him fired. He has also said that only conservative talk show hosts get threatened, not liberals.
Actually that’s not true. There are only two talk show hosts that I know about who have ever been killed. One is Alan Berg, a liberal talk show host in Denver who was killed in his driveway in 1984. The other is Mike Webb , a fiery liberal host on the same station as Dori Monson, 710 KIRO, who was killed several months after being fired.
We don’t think anybody should ever threaten Dori Monson for his opinions, but in all fairness, it’s not his political opinions that make people dislike him. It is the hateful things he says about people, especially those he calls “ultra-liberals,” which is his term for anybody to the left of Genghis Khan. Maybe it’s also because of his rants saying that kids, black people, anybody shot by the police, usually get what they deserve.
The terribly insensitive comments he makes about people who are killed by the police is what makes people dislike him. Nobody is really threatened by libertarian views per se. Look how popular Ron Paul is, and he is the most libertarian public figure there is.
Once more, Dori Monson has gotten it wrong.
Today Dori Monson kept playing a clip from Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa. It was Dori’s theory that Mayor Villaraigosa was ignorant, which he hoped to illustrate by quoting a line wherein the Mayor says people need to talk about gay rights at their churches and shuls.
Dori said he didn’t know what a “shul” was and kept making jokes about it. He was obviously thinking that the Mayor meant to say “school,” but instead he just proved his own ignorance. “Shul” is the Jewish word for Synagogue.
I sent him an email to help him out, but he ignored it, probably because it would have ruined his point. And as we all know, Dori is never wrong.
UPDATE: Dori mentioned receiving some email that Shul was a Jewish synagogue. He said he had thought about that, but dismissed it because he didn’t think that was what the mayor was talking about. This just minutes after he said he had never heard of the word Shul. The man is simply incapable of admitting a mistake.
I was right again, and once again William Kristol was wrong. Today he quoted Newsmax, which is wrong even more than Kristol is, saying that Barack Obama was present when the Reverend Wright made the inflammatory speech that is all over rightwing radio (especially our friend Dori Monson’s show).
Well, as usual Mr. Kristol was wrong, Obama was in Florida giving a speech, and Kristol has now posted an apology on the New York Times website. Not really enough to undo the damage.
Here’s a link to a blog I wrote a few months ago about how William Kristol is always wrong:
I may not always be right, but I sure have a better track record than the rightwing cheshire cat Mr. Kristol.
